Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your information.
Effective date: August 3, 2026
At My Energy Bahamas we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our website visitors, clients and partners. This privacy policy outlines how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you visit our website, submit inquiries, or interact with our digital assets.
Who we are
Our website address is https://myenergybahamas.com. My Energy Bahamas is a full-service solar energy company providing residential, commercial and industrial solar, battery energy storage and equipment distribution throughout The Bahamas. We are part of the My Energy Global group.
Information we collect and why
1. Commercial and inbound inquiries
When you submit an inquiry through our contact forms, request a system assessment, or join a waiting list, we collect the personal and corporate information you provide. This typically includes:
- Your name and, where relevant, your corporate title
- Company name and property details
- Email address, telephone number and physical billing or installation address
- Electricity consumption data or energy profiles provided for project scoping
We use this information strictly to design energy systems, communicate project details, structure payment or ownership programmes, and fulfil the services you have requested.
2. Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, together with the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string, to assist in automated spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address, known as a hash, may be provided to the Gravatar service to verify whether you are a user. Following approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
3. Media
If you upload images to the website, such as electricity bills, drawings or site photographs for engineering review, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract location data from images hosted publicly on the site.
4. Cookies
- Comments. If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies, so you do not have to fill in your details again. These cookies last for one year.
- Authentication. Visiting our login page sets a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- User accounts. When you log in we set several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days and screen option cookies last a year. Selecting "Remember Me" extends your login to two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
- Content management. Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie containing no personal data, simply indicating the post ID of the item edited. It expires after 24 hours.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages and articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, interactive calculators, forms and social media feeds. Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited that external website directly. These websites may independently collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that platform.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell, rent or lease our client databases to third parties. Your data is only shared in the following circumstances:
- System administration. If you request a password reset, your IP address is included automatically in the reset email.
- Technical and financial execution. To design systems or process applications, relevant data may be shared securely with certified engineering partners, our equipment distribution network, or vetted financing partners.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose your information where required to do so by Bahamian law, or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.
How long we retain your data
- Comments. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically rather than held in a moderation queue.
- Registered profiles. For users who register on the site, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. Users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time, with the exception of changing their username. Site administrators can also view and edit that information.
- Business inquiries. Information submitted through our project intake forms is retained securely in our customer systems for operational, legal and accounting purposes.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left data through comments or intake forms, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any information you have provided to us. You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are legally, administratively or contractually obliged to retain for security, tax or corporate reporting requirements.
To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated third-party spam detection service. Commercial inquiry data is routed and processed through protected cloud infrastructure and secure servers configured to safeguard client data. Because we operate as part of an international group, some data may be processed outside The Bahamas by our partners; where that happens we require appropriate safeguards to be in place.
